The General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Olalekan Bakare-Oki has extended heartfelt felicitations to Muslim faithful across the world, particularly members of the motoring public in Lagos State, as they commemorate this yearās Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Bakare-Oki on behalf of the management and entire workforce of LASTMA described the revered Islamic festival as a profound season of spiritual introspection, sacrificial devotion, unwavering faith, tolerance and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah.
He enjoined Muslim adherents to continually exemplify the enduring virtues of peace, compassion, selflessness, discipline and harmonious coexistence which the sacred celebration profoundly represents.
The LASTMA General Manager further urged motorists, commercial transport operators and all categories of road users to demonstrate heightened vigilance, caution and civic responsibility before, during and after the festive period in order to guarantee the protection of lives and property.
Bakare-Oki particularly cautioned motorists against reckless driving, excessive speeding, dangerous overtaking, route violations and other traffic infractions capable of precipitating avoidable road mishaps and needless fatalities.
He emphatically advised drivers to abstain completely from driving under the influence of alcohol, narcotic substances or any intoxicating agents capable of impairing mental alertness, coordination and sound judgment while operating vehicles on public highways.
According to Bakare-Oki “unwavering compliance with government-prescribed speed limits, traffic regulations and established road safety protocols remains indispensable to ensuring a peaceful, accident-free and hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration throughout the State”.
The General Manager reiterated that Officers of LASTMA would remain strategically deployed across critical traffic corridors, major highways and key intersections within Lagos to ensure seamless vehicular movement, bolster traffic management operations and provide prompt emergency response services wherever necessary before, during and after the celebration.
Bakare-Oki further appealed to residents and road users to cooperate fully with traffic management personnel and other security agencies by obeying all extant traffic laws and safety directives instituted for public orderliness and collective safety.
He thereafter wished all Muslim faithful a peaceful, joyous and spiritually fulfilling Eid-el-Kabir celebration, while praying for enduring peace, prosperity, unity and socioeconomic advancement across Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.
