




The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, has commenced his familiarisation tour of Area Commands across the State with a strategic working visit to the Asaba Area Command, reaffirming the command’s commitment to effective policing through stakeholder collaboration, operational excellence, and community partnership.
The visit brought together a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community leaders, representatives of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), human rights organisations, Honorary Mess Members, sister security agencies, vigilantes, Anti-cult volunteers, and other guests, all of whom pledged their continued support towards improving security within the Asaba Area Command.
In his address, the Commissioner of Police underscored the importance of collective responsibility in combating crime, noting that effective policing thrives on mutual trust, timely intelligence sharing, and sustained collaboration between the Police and the communities they serve. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, professionalism, respect for the rule of law, and the protection of the fundamental rights of all citizens. The CP also opined that social media should be used objectively and not to spread falsehood, and admonished all stakeholders to engage positively while using social media.
Addressing officers and men of the Asaba Area Command, the CP charged them to remain disciplined, courteous, and accountable in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities. He warned against all forms of corruption, extortion, and unprofessional conduct, while urging them to remain proactive in crime prevention, deepen community engagement, and uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force. He reiterated the police social media policy and admonished officers of the area command to adhere strictly to the force social media Policy and be guided by it.
The Commissioner of Police expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for their unwavering support to the Delta State Police Command and assured them that the familiarisation tour would further strengthen operational effectiveness, improve police-community relations, and enhance the delivery of quality policing services across the State.
