


The Delta State Police Command has recorded another significant breakthrough in its sustained efforts to protect critical national infrastructure with the arrest of two suspected electric cable vandals and the recovery of vandalised electric cables in Delta State.
On 25 June 2026, at about 1030hrs, operatives of Kwale Police station in a combined effort with members of the vigilante group, acting on credible intelligence that suspected vandals were dismantling and stealing electric cables along the Ibabu–Ugiliamai Road, swiftly mobilised to the scene. Upon sighting the team, the suspects attempted to evade arrest. During the ensuing operation, one of the suspects sustained injury and is presently receiving treatment at the hospital, while one of the suspects is in custody.The suspects were later identified as Osakwe Sunday (28yrs) and Ekene Obocha (34yrs).
The vandalised electric cables has been recovered as exhibits.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, warned criminal elements to desist from vandalising government critical infrastructure and other public assets, stressing that the command will not relent in its efforts to identify, arrest, and prosecute offenders. He also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the police.
