A political support group, the Forward Bola Ahmed Tinubu 2027 Independent Campaign Group, has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, describing his administration’s economic reforms, infrastructure development and security interventions as reasons Nigerians should support his re-election in 2027.
The endorsement was made in Abuja during the group’s official launch, where its leadership said the campaign would mobilize support across the country to ensure the President secures another four-year mandate.
Speaking at the event, the Director-General of the group, Sadiq Yusuf, said the decision to endorse President Tinubu was based on what he described as the administration’s achievements despite inheriting significant economic and infrastructural challenges.
According to Yusuf, although many Nigerians continue to experience economic hardship, the government’s reforms are laying the foundation for long-term growth and national stability.
He argued that difficult policy decisions, including the removal of fuel subsidy, were necessary to stabilise the economy and prevent a deeper financial crisis.
“The endorsement became necessary because we believe it is in Nigeria’s interest to sustain the ongoing reforms. President Tinubu deserves another opportunity to complete the transformation he has started,” Yusuf said.
The campaign group also credited the administration with accelerating infrastructure development, citing ongoing highway and road construction projects across different parts of the country.
Yusuf maintained that the government had moved quickly to address years of infrastructure deficits through increased investment in major road networks, describing the projects as critical to improving trade, economic integration and national development.
On security, the group praised the Federal Government’s increased funding for the sector, arguing that improved financing has strengthened the fight against insurgency, banditry and kidnapping.
Yusuf said the administration’s investment in security, recruitment of additional security personnel and procurement of equipment demonstrate its commitment to tackling insecurity across the country.
He also highlighted the government’s student loan programme, describing it as one of the administration’s most significant social interventions.
According to him, the initiative has expanded access to higher education by providing financial support to students from low-income families, enabling them to pay tuition and other educational expenses.
The Director-General further defended the administration’s economic policies, insisting that reforms introduced over the past three years have contributed to improved macroeconomic stability.
He argued that without the government’s intervention, the country’s economic situation could have deteriorated further.
Also speaking at the event, the group’s Diaspora Director, High Chief Wisdom Chukwuma Okoye, urged Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the next general election.
He described President Tinubu as a leader committed to national development and called on citizens to support the administration’s continuity beyond 2027.
Okoye said the President had demonstrated leadership through policies aimed at infrastructure development, education and economic reforms, adding that political differences should not distract from what he described as measurable achievements.
The National Women Leader of the group, Nkiru Uraih, also expressed support for the President’s second-term ambition, saying women had benefited from the administration’s empowerment programs and increased representation in government appointments.
She commended initiatives targeted at women entrepreneurs and called for greater female participation in politics while encouraging continued support for the administration.
The event attracted members of the campaign organization, political supporters and other stakeholders, who reiterated their commitment to mobilizing support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The endorsement comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections gradually gather momentum, with political parties, support groups and interest organisations beginning consultations and mobilization efforts across the country.
President Tinubu, who assumed office in May 2023, has introduced a series of economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy and foreign exchange market adjustments. While the administration says the measures are necessary to reposition the economy for long-term growth, critics have argued that they have contributed to rising living costs and increased hardship for many Nigerians.
With less than a year before political campaigns is expected to intensify, endorsements from support groups are likely to become more frequent as politicians and stakeholders position themselves ahead of the next electoral cycle.
