What began as a personal battle has become a powerful testimony of faith, resilience and service to humanity. For Evangelist Benjamin Odagbon, living with muscular dystrophy has not ended his dreams; instead, it has become a platform from which he inspires others, advocates for persons living with disabilities and reaches people facing difficult seasons of life.
His story is captured in his latest book, Against All Odds: Defeating Muscular Dystrophy, a deeply personal account that goes beyond disability to speak about courage, faith, perseverance and the power of refusing to give up.
Odagbon has devoted much of his life to demonstrating that physical limitations should not determine a person’s purpose or potential. Through the Benjamin Odagbon and Friends Muscular Dystrophy Foundation Nigeria, he has supported and encouraged persons living with disabilities, while using his voice to advocate for greater inclusion, dignity and opportunities for people with disabilities.
His humanitarian work extends beyond disability advocacy. He has taken messages of hope, encouragement and salvation to correctional centres, hospitals, churches, streets and markets. His books have also been distributed free of charge to inmates and patients, with the aim of reminding people in difficult circumstances that their present situation does not have to define their future.
An author of several inspirational and Christian books, Odagbon has written Only the Dead Is Limited, Unlimited Evangelism, Critical Assignment, Unburden Your Life, Keep Hope Alive, There’s Hope, As Long As You Are Still Breathing, and Fishers of Men, among others.
However, he describes Against All Odds as different from his previous works because it represents a personal testimony of victory. The book chronicles his journey of confronting the challenges associated with muscular dystrophy while continuing to serve God, advocate for others and make a difference in society.
His work has increasingly become a source of encouragement to people living with disabilities, inmates, hospital patients and others who may feel forgotten or limited by their circumstances.
Odagbon’s message is simple but profound: circumstances may challenge a person, but they do not have to define the person’s destiny.
Through his books, ministry, advocacy and humanitarian activities, Evangelist Benjamin Odagbon continues to turn personal adversity into public impact, offering hope to people who need to be reminded that their story is not over.
Against All Odds is therefore not simply the story of a man living with muscular dystrophy. It is the story of a life transformed into a testimony—a testimony that faith, courage and purpose can create possibilities even in the face of seemingly impossible circumstances.
