It was a celebration of a life well spent for Pa Benson Asane Odogu
, a retired military personnel, member of Winners Chapel Elder Ministry and a humanitarian.
Elder Benson Odogun journey to eternal commenced with service of songs where countless testimonies of his good will was reeled out .
Rev. Dr. John Kome, a famous political stalwart under People Democratic Party ( PDP) of Lagos state is a son- In-law of Pa Benson Asane Odogu.
The Lagos PDP House of Representatives aspirant was very delighted having late Rev. Benson as a father In-law, despite the deceased supportive, prayerful acts towards his political career; Rev. Kome affirmed to Insight Global News Editor of his father-in-law friendly,calm nature.
He said” for my 32 years of getting married to his daughter, I have never seen Papa angry for once, he was an extra- ordinary creature and I think my wife took after him” Papa was a very friendly, prayerful and supportive father in-law whose life revolved round giving.
He sponsored whosever crosses his path’s education; most especially pastoral schools, he love God and served Him till his last breath.
Rev. Dr. John Kome concluded ” I will live to remember Papa for his humility and sacrificial life which is why I cherished the idea of lending hands foundation orchestrated by his children to help the needy most importantly Pastors wives and their households.


Rev. Kome has been God’s general for over 44 years. As a reknown politician ; he affirmed his love for his country Nigeria by attaining a leadership position soonest, meeting the needs of Nigerian underprivileged as dividend of democracy should revolve around all citizens”
Rev. Segun Adewusi from Makurdi, Benue state capital will live to remember Pa Odogun for his life was save under his ministry in 1985 at GCC ( Gospel Church of Christ) via an alter call.
Ever since his encounter with Christ Rev. Segun an adopted son of Pa Odogun’s life never remain the same. He applauded Pa Odogu’s generosity and fatherly role during his wedding in 1996.
Rev. Adewusi was emotional for he believed Pa Odogu was already with the saint; he concluded by saying ” I know Papa Asane in 1985 and and he rested in the Lord at aged 85; it is a very significant number for me to hold unto , may God bless the soul of the departed”
Madam Felicia is Pa Odogun’s adopted daughter who is a junior sister to his beloved wife whom Papa saw through her teen age to her marriage of over 40 years. Her testimony about Pa Odogu was similar to other testifiers as she affirmed Pa Odogu’s generosity was second to none for he would announced free meal and fresh food stuffs for any members of the winners household church that is in need.
The Vice Chairman of Kings Court Estate where Pa Odogu’s resided till he went to meet with his creator applauded Papa’s household peaceful co-existence and dedication to God’s work.
She implored the children to retain Pa Benson Asane Odogu’s peaceful legacy .
Kezi and Kovi Kome are Pa Odogu’s grand children whose memories of grandPa humanitarian gesture, fervent prayers, laughter and friendly nature will lingers on.
Pst. Mrs Riwo Hope Kome is Pa Odogu’s fourth child. The wife of defunct PDP Lagos Chieftain Rev. Kome was very emotional through, all she had to say was ” I love my father’s charitable values so much. Do you know he gave and had nothing left to hold unto before his last breath? That was ” Christlike lifestyle! ” My father lives his life for others which is why his children want to keep this legacy of his giving by launching a foundation .
Her words” I am being emotional because my father worked so hard in life; he had money to take good care of himself and families yet he lived for others by giving out all he had for the needy and was left with only his faith at his last breath. You can imagine my father selling out his edifice to solve other people’s problems!
But we are happy for he left a good name for us as the Bible says ” Good name is better than silver and gold”
Which is why there is a foundation called ‘BENASOD FOUNDATION” Rev. Benson Odogu Goodwill Foundation to keep his legacy of humanitarian alive by helping the less privileges, orphans, widows, people with health challenges like surgery and the likes with a social media platform for a better outreach and audience.
In conclusion Rev. Mrs Riwo Kome appreciated God for the success of her beloved father’s celebration of life, she praised God for her beloved husband Rev. Dr. Kome for his supportive act and being there for her always she also thanked GKCC brethren for the love showered and support.
Rev. Mrs Kome concluded with prayer of goodwill to her siblings, family members, guests, church brethren far and near that made the burial ceremony of his beloved father a successful; hitch free one.
Pa Benson Asane Odogu’ hailed from Oleh town, Isoko south local government area of Delta state where he had his elementary formal education, enlisted in the Nigeria army at a very tender age before his voluntary retirement in 1977.
Late PA Odogun was a devoted disciple of Christ whose passion in Christian doom and charitable act was immeasurable.
Born in August 17th 1941. Pa Benson Asane Odogu had his last breath after a brief illness on May 19th, 2026 at aged 85.
