It was a gathering of cultural display, displayed pride of origin as Igwe CC Nwokedi (The Eze Indigbo of Ijegun/ Ijedodo area of Lagos state) celebrated the third Iriji; Yam Festival in grand style.

In the mood of celebrating Iriji year 2024 Eze Nwokedi affirmed to the media conferment of indigenous sons and daughters as tradition demands which led to the chieftaincy titles of High Chief Chibuzor Obidike ‘ (The Oyi of Oyi’ Ijegun Ijeododo), High Chief Obiora Okonkwo ‘ (Ozo Igbo Ndu Guruguru)’, Chief Udegbe Sylvester Chioma ‘ (Ozuo ome 1 of Ijegun Ijeododo), High Chief Dr. Ndubuisi Ebem ‘ (Uru ka Na Chukwu Ijegun Ijeododo’ ) and High Chief Christian Ikechi Uwaeme, (Akaekpuchionwa 1 of Alimosho.)

The newly installed Chiefs alongside their spouses claimed it was an honour well deserved which was a call to serve igbo brethren home and abroad better in their best capacities as all rained prayer of longevity on HRM Eze Nwokedi for counting them worthy of such honour .

The chairman of the occasion Chief Martins (Former President of Electronics Dealers Alaba international Market) in his brief interview disclosed the significance of Iriji Yam Festival which is paramount to all Igbos across the globe.

Eze Martins said Iriji Yam Festival needs to be celebrated before it consumption for bountiful harvest in businesses and on farm products as the chairman of Ijegun/ Ijedodo Ndigbo Iriji Yam Festival 2024 advised his fellow Igbos to go back to the farm , most especially yam cultivation for bountiful harvest for future Iriji festival as purchase of yam from the market for the famous ancestral festival wasn’t what the culture demand.

Igwe CC Nwokedi The converner and host of the day was so excited for the success of the year 2024 aged Iriji Yam Festival, a culture and traditions that has come to stay In Igboland regardless of the civilisation
