The 700 capacity hall of Rockview Hotel was full to the brim on Thursday, September 18th 2025 as notable business moguls including retired custom officers honoured Dr Basil Chudi Nwolisa’s books launch titled” The Toll of Corruption in Nigeria”

The Book titled’ The Toll of Corruption in Nigeria’ was not just a book but a law book to tackle corruption on Nigeria roads he said.
The author in his brief interview condemned corruption on Nigeria highways saying’ it’s a criminal enterprise in motion’ as citizens are often humiliated, assaulted, intimidated by Nigeria security Operatives and imposters.
Dr. Basil lamented how citizens faces multiple layers of extortion after clarification of goods at seaports, insisted no other units aside Customs has the right to halt vehicle s after proper examination and release of consignment.
Dr. Basil insisted fighting corruption is every Nigerian’s business, when Nigerians continue to say NO by rejecting ‘institutionalised corruption’, it will get better and we will get there someday as the nation is at risk if systemic extortion and abuse are left without check and balances.
The Book ” Toll of Corruption in Nigeria” has inspired changes siting the Ondo State incident of confrontation between civilians and the Customs Operatives; it is a book of empowerment for Nigeria citizens aimed at demanding transparency and accountability from the government.

Dr. Basil Chudi Nwolisa concluded by imploring the media to play a vital role in demanding for transparency, accountability and be of important tool in war against corruption by exposing abuses and intimidation against law abiding citizen.
