Every enduring community is built on infrastructure that stands the test of time. Beyond awarding contracts or initiating development projects, responsible governance demands continuous supervision to ensure every investment translates into lasting value for the people.
In keeping with this commitment, the Executive Chairman of Agbado/Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area, Hon. Abiodun Jimoh Isola (Ejigbadero), yesterday embarked on an extensive on-the-spot assessment of strategic developmental projects across the LCDA. The inspection covered projects being executed through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangements as well as those awarded on contractual terms, reaffirming his administration’s unwavering commitment to quality infrastructure, transparency, accountability, and timely delivery.
The inspection commenced at the Kola Ultra-Modern Market, a landmark commercial development being executed through a joint venture with Tundass Nigeria Ltd. The project received the approval of the Lagos State Government following strict compliance with planning regulations, including the directive that no structure should be erected directly beneath the high-tension power lines.
Upon completion, the market will feature more than 200 standard lock-up shops, open stalls for small-scale traders, and spacious parking facilities designed to provide a safe, organized, and modern trading environment. The Chairman assessed the quality of work, pace of construction, and compliance with approved specifications, noting that the project will significantly boost commercial activities, create employment opportunities, and strengthen the local economy.
The inspection team thereafter proceeded to Awonusi Road, Suberu-Oje, where the 416-metre road project has reached an advanced stage of completion. Constructed with a covered drainage system and an intending interlocking paving stones, the road is expected to improve vehicular and pedestrian movement while providing a lasting solution to flooding challenges within the community.
Hon. Ejigbadero also inspected the ongoing construction of the Ajolojuota Ultra-Modern Market at Aiyetobi, a commercial development being executed by a private developer through a collaborative arrangement with the Council. The market also features the Sen. Oluranti Adebule Block, an attached facility incorporated into the development. Expressing satisfaction with the progress and quality of work, the Chairman encouraged traders and prospective investors to take advantage of the economic opportunities the market will provide. The facility will accommodate over 150 lock-up shops alongside about 60 K-clamp trading spaces, further expanding opportunities for traders, artisans, and entrepreneurs.
At Amikanle, the Chairman assessed the construction of the Ajetutu Ultra-Modern Market, another transformative commercial infrastructure project that will accommodate over 150 lock-up shops upon completion. He emphasized that modern markets remain critical to sustainable economic development by providing organized trading spaces, attracting investment, improving environmental sanitation, and creating enduring opportunities for businesses and residents.
The inspection tour concluded at the Agbado/Oke-Odo Civic Centre, Omoroga-Meiran, where construction continues to record remarkable progress. Upon completion, the world-class facility will serve as a befitting venue for official functions, community engagements, conferences, cultural programmes, and social events, while further enhancing the physical and economic landscape of the LCDA.
Speaking during the inspection, Hon. Ejigbadero reiterated that project monitoring is not merely a routine administrative exercise but a fundamental pillar of responsible governance.
