In commemoration of his first year as the elected democratic President of Nigeria on May 29th, 2024, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the flag-off of the Abuja Metro Rail today, appreciated the Honorable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, Minister of State Dr. Maryam Maomud , and their team for a job well done.
President Tinubu said at the flag-off that the request for a functioning metro rail was made in August 2023, and he was more than glad that the FCT Minister had delivered more than expected, which had proven to be a service to the motherland indeed, as implied in the last line of the first stanza of the newly adopted National Anthem.
The President give kudos to the Honorable Minister for aligning with the Renowned Hope Agenda of his administration as he extended free Abuja Metro Rail services to Nigerians for the rest of the year, contrary to the Minister’s initial two-month free rail ride offer.
