The plight of vulnerable individuals often goes unnoticed, but organisations like Folusoomosebi Care Foundation are making a difference in the lives of those in need.

Recently, two beneficiaries of the foundation’s generosity shared their stories.

A Blind Artisan’s Struggle and Dreams of Sight
Mr Abdullahi Olamide Oladimeji, a 31-year-old visually impaired artisan, recounted his harrowing journey. In March 2018, after completing his studies in Cargo Distribution and Shipping at Ghana Regional Maritime University, he returned to Nigeria to start a career at the Nigerian Ports Authority in Apapa.

However, his life took a drastic turn when a seemingly minor eye condition escalated into a serious issue due to self-medication.

Upon seeking medical attention, he was informed that he required a corneal transplant to restore his vision. While the surgery can be performed in Nigeria, the facilities are inadequate, and the procedure is best done in New Delhi, India. The cost for the surgery is $7,000 for both eyes, an amount far beyond his reach.

Despite his challenges, Mr Oladimeji remains determined to rebuild his life. A skilled leatherworker specialising in making shoes and bags, he seeks financial support of ₦350,000 to establish his craft and regain his independence.

A Child’s Fight for Normalcy
Another recipient of the foundation’s support is Mrs Serifat Bakare, mother of Okiki, a young child born without an anus. Okiki has already undergone one surgery but requires two more procedures to live a normal life.

Unable to afford the second surgery, slated for January 23rd, Mrs Bakare turned to Folusoomosebi Care Foundation for assistance. The foundation provided ₦100,000 towards the procedure. Okiki currently uses her intestines to pass waste, a condition that places immense strain on the family.

Mrs Bakare expressed her gratitude to the foundation’s CEO for the timely intervention, praying for continued blessings upon the organisation.

Volunteers Give Back to the Community
The foundation’s efforts extend beyond financial aid. Its volunteers marked the occasion with a sense of camaraderie, coming together to wine and dine while appreciating the generosity of the CEO, whose selfless acts continue to inspire hope.

As part of their outreach, the team, led by Mrs Laide Gold, took to the streets of Lagos to distribute food and essential commodities to the needy. Their gesture brought smiles to countless faces, reaffirming the foundation’s commitment to uplifting the less privileged.

A Beacon of Hope
The Folusoomosebi Care Foundation continues to impact lives by offering hope and practical support to those in dire need. Their commitment to empowering individuals like Mr Oladimeji and aiding families like Mrs Bakare’s underscores the importance of collective responsibility in building a compassionate society.

For those interested in supporting these causes, contributions can make a world of difference in helping others reclaim their dignity and fulfil their potential.
