Fresh concerns have emerged over the state of infrastructure and operations at the Lagos office of Voice of Nigeria (VON), as reports indicate worsening structural decay and systemic inefficiencies within the organization.
Multiple sources have confirmed that the current state of facilities across several VON locations is deplorable, with outdated equipment, crumbling office spaces, and insufficient maintenance compromising the organization’s ability to function effectively as the nation’s official international broadcasting service.
Amid these infrastructural setbacks, insiders allege that the Director-General of VON Mr.Jibrin Baba Ndace is engaged in a controversial personnel overhaul. According to credible information reaching us, a strategic plan is underway to carry out a mass redeployment of staff, allegedly to mask an earlier move to remove a selected group of employees. Sources claim this broader recruitment drive is designed to give the impression of a routine restructuring, thereby concealing what some staff members are describing as a targeted purge.
Staff morale within the organization is reportedly low, with many expressing concerns about the lack of transparency, operational inefficiency, and absence of a clear vision for reviving VON’s mandate.
Stakeholders and concerned Nigerians are calling on relevant oversight bodies, including Fed Min of Information & Orientation, Fed Min of Labour & Employment , Labour Centers NLC National,
TUC National, and the National Assembly, to urgently intervene and ensure accountability,
transparency, and a comprehensive audit of VON’s structural and administrative practices.
The future of Nigeria’s international broadcasting voice hangs in the balance, and it is imperative that leadership at all levels prioritizes both the welfare of staff and the core mission of the organization.
