In the early hours of Saturday, at approximately 06:20hrs, a multiple road traffic crash involving three articulated trucks occurred opposite World Oil Filling Station along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Vehicles Involved:
1. Unknown Registration – Yellow MACK Trailer (Containerized, Commercial)
2. GWB 380 XY – Yellow/Blue MACK Trailer (20ft Containerized, Commercial)
3. ABC 392 ZW – Blue SINOTRUCK (Commercial)
Cause of Crash:
Preliminary investigation attributes the crash to a mechanical deficiency — a tyre pull-off in motion. The sudden malfunction led to evasive action by an oncoming truck, which then collided with a third vehicle in a rear-end fashion.
Fortunately, all five persons involved (male) were rescued unhurt, with no injuries or fatalities recorded.
Thanks to the swift response of the FRSC rescue team, the crash scene was professionally managed and the resulting obstruction promptly cleared. The MTD Police Unit from Adigboluja has since taken custody of the affected vehicles.
Speaking on the incident, the Sector Commander, FRSC Lagos Sector Command, Corps Commander Kehinde G. Hamzat, advised motorists — particularly operators of articulated vehicles — to prioritize regular maintenance and avoid operating vehicles with mechanical faults. He reiterated the Corps’ commitment to reducing road crashes through proactive enforcement and public education.
