


As part of collective responsibility to curb the menace of domestic and sexual violence among its citizens, Agbado Oke-Odo local council development area,on Monday,1st September,2025 took the awareness campaign against domestic and sexual violence to major markets situated within the council area.
The campaign which is part of activities lined up in the month of September,by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency was led by the council manager,Mrs Fregene Gbemisola,who represented the council chairman,Hon Ishola Jimoh Abiodun.She was accompanied by members of management team, including Head of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation,Mrs Adebanjo Christiana and some members of staff.
The campaign team on a road walk, moved from the council secretariat, singing, dancing and distributing campaign leaflets to passers by, visited Kantagowa and Ile Epo markets.
At the markets,Mrs Fregene informed traders and customers that the Lagos State Government under the leadership of Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu has zero tolerance for domestic and sexual violence in the state.She added that, to ensure the rights of victims are protected, the state domestic and sexual violence agency is readily available to ensure justice is served when the need arises and to further curb the menace,has set aside the month of September to spread the awareness among Lagosians.
The council manager stated further that the Ishola Jimoh Abiodun’s led administration in Agbado Oke-Odo lcda is in total support of the Lagos State Government in the fight to curb the menace, and to this extent will put all hands on deck to stem the menace in the council area.
Mrs Fregene urged residents of the council to speak out and get in touch with the state domestic and sexual agency and other relevant authorities if they have genuine information about cases of any form of domestic and sexual violence in their communities. She advised women in abusive relationship to withdraw from the relationship alive if the abuse persists rather than lose their life in the process.
