

CP OLUFEMI ABANIWONDA CAUTIONS YOUTHS TO DESIST FROM ABUSING DRUGS AS IT’S DETRIMENTAL TO THEIR HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
- RESCUE OF KIDNAPPED VICTIM: On 12/10/2025 at about 1400 hrs, the DPO Ovian Aladja Police station received a distress call from a man (name withheld ) that on the same date at about 0200hrs, while they were sleeping, armed men broke into his apartment, attacked, robbed and kidnapped his wife. The DPO, CSP Friday Ekundayo, in a swift response, mobilised and led operatives of the division and went after the kidnappers with a view to ensure that the woman is rescued unhurt and the suspects arrested, they trailed the kidnappers to a forest along Iyara community. Following unrelenting effort from the DPO and his men, the Kidnappers were forced to abandon the victim and escape. The victim was rescued unhurt and has since been reunited with her family, while manhunt for the fleeing suspects is ongoing.
- ARREST OF DRUG BARON RECOVERY OF STOLEN VEHICLE AND ILLICIT DRUGS: On 12/10/2025 at about 0500hrs, operatives of Crack Squad Delta State Command Asaba, while acting on credible intelligence on a suspected drug peddler, they stormed a hideout at Effurun, GRA and arrested one Igwe Samson ‘m’ 33yrs old Abalum Sunday ‘m’ 39yrs. Upon search of their sienna vehicle, four hundred and fifty (450) bottles of CSP codeine, one hundred and eighty-eight (188) bottles of bargadine, two hundred and eight (208) sachets of tramadol 100mg, three hundred (300) sachets of swinol one hundred (100) sachets of tramadol 500mg, fifty (50) sachets of rophynol, a big of weed suspected to be cannabis were recovered. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect has been in the business for about two years, and usually buys the drug at Onitsha and prefers to travel at night so that he will be caught easily. Efforts to arrest his suppliers and receivers are ongoing.
The commissioner of Police, Delta Staten CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, while commending the gallantry of the DPO and his men, also advises youths to desist from crime, drug abuse, which is also one of the main drivers of crime. The CP also cautions that drug abuse is detrimental to the health and well-being of abusers hence should be avoided.
