June 8th of every year is set aside for the commemoration of Africans (Blacks) who were captured into the land of ‘NO-RETURN,’ losing their lives during the slave trade saga.
The African Diaspora Ancestral Commemoration Institute (ADACI) Nigeria – Lagos Chapter, under the leadership of Olaide Gold, along with other members, visited Oshodi Art Gallery in Ikorodu area of Lagos state.
Here, over 118,000 artworks and antiquities showcasing African heritage were managed and displayed for future generations.
The tour was a poignant reminder of African life and culture before the era of white intrusion.
ADACI, an American project headquartered in Washington DC, has established relationships with grassroots organizations in Benin, Ghana, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago.

ADACI boasts two continental African chapters: ADACI – Senegal, established in 1993, and ADACI – Nigeria, founded in 2004.
ADACI’s global president, Chief Fakunle Oyesanya, was excited to meet and speak with members via video call, showcasing the commemoration of ADACI 2024 in Washington DC, USA.
