The Distinguished Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Senator Yunus Akintunde, has been conferred with an Honorary Fellowship Award by the Federal School of Surveying, Oyo.


The award is in recognition of his meritorious service, unwavering commitment to education, and numerous contributions to human capacity development. Senator Akintunde has played a pivotal role in advancing the growth and repositioning of the institution.
It will be recalled that Senator (Dr.) Yunus Akintunde, in his capacity as a serving lawmaker, facilitated the presentation of a bill seeking to upgrade the Federal School of Surveying, Oyo, to a full-fledged university—the University of Geomatics. The bill has successfully scaled second reading and public hearing at the National Assembly and is now awaiting final reading, presidential assent, and subsequent implementation.
Representing Senator Akintunde at the event was Dr. Saheed Adetunmbi Ige, a lecturer at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), who received the Distinguished Honorary Fellowship Award on his behalf.
Other notable awardees at the event included Hon. Prince Akeem Adeyemi, a member of the Federal House of Representatives.
Dr Yunus Akintunde had recieved several awards and recently conferred with the Best Senator of the Year by the Nigerian Union of Journalists Oyo State council.
Senator Akintunde reaffirmed his commitment to delivering quality representation, pledging to continue serving the good people of Oyo Central Senatorial District—and by extension, Oyo State and Nigeria—particularly through initiatives that enhance human capacity development.
