The Optical Medical Outreach Programme organised by Distinguished Senator Yunus Akintunde, representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, has recorded remarkable success across three local government areas within the first two days of the four-day exercise scheduled for Ibadan Outer City Zone of Oyo Central Senatorial District.
The programme, which held on Wednesday and Thursday in Oluyole, Ona Ara, and Egbeda Local Government Areas, witnessed massive turnout, enthusiastic participation, and overwhelming appreciation from beneficiaries.
The outreach featured the engagement of top-notch professional eye-care specialists who conducted extensive eye screenings, delivered health education lectures, provided relevant medications, and distributed high-quality corrective glasses to beneficiaries with varying degrees of visual impairment. These comprehensive services constituted major highlights of the programme.
Senator Akintunde facilitated the project in collaboration with the Federal Co-operative College Ibadan, as part of his sustained commitment to promoting quality healthcare delivery and general well-being among his constituents.
Across the three local government areas, beneficiaries and community members expressed profound gratitude to the Senator for this laudable initiative, describing it as timely, impactful, and life-enhancing. Many appealed for the continuity of such interventions to ensure improved access to quality healthcare services.
While monitoring the exercise at Oluyole, Senator Akintunde expressed satisfaction with the smooth and orderly conduct of the programme, commending the professionalism, discipline, and cooperation displayed by all stakeholders.
> “I sincerely appreciate our partners — the Management of the Federal Co-operative College Ibadan, the optical medical consulting team, our monitoring committee, party leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and our esteemed constituents — whose collective cooperation, dedication, and exemplary conduct contributed immensely to the success of this programme,” he stated.
He further expressed optimism for even greater outcomes as the programme progresses:
> “So far, I am highly impressed with the level of success recorded, and I look forward to an even more impactful outing in the remaining days as we proceed to Lagelu and Akinyele Local Government Areas on Friday and Saturday.”
The Senator reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to quality representation and inclusive development:
> “I assure our people of my continued dedication to excellent representation, driven by the pursuit of sustainable development, expanded opportunities, and impactful interventions, in partnership with relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), within available resources.”
