The Delta State Police Command has recorded notable operational breakthroughs across the State in its renewed drive to combat crime and criminality. These achievements, recorded shortly after the assumption of duty of CP Aina Adesola as the new Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, underscore the Command’s resolve to consolidate proactive, intelligence-led policing and reassure residents of enhanced security

ARREST OF SUSPECTED CULTIST/ARMED ROBBER AND RECOVERY OF ONE LOCALLY FABRICATED GUN AND TWO LIVE CARTRIDGES

In line with proactive patrols and confidence-building operations across the State, on 10th January 2026, at about 0120 hours, operatives of Ekpan Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Labe Joseph, while conducting confidence-building patrol along Hausa Market, Ubeji, sighted about five (5) suspected hoodlums loitering within the market area in a suspicious manner. Upon sighting the police team, the suspects took to their heels and fled in different directions. The operatives gave chase and, in the process, one Gift Ojulowo (male, 30 years) of New Layout, Ubeji, was apprehended. A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of one (1) locally fabricated gun and two (2) live cartridges, concealed inside his trousers.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of the Aye Confraternity cult group. The suspect and recovered exhibits are currently in police custody, while preliminary investigation is ongoing. Efforts have been intensified to identify, track, and arrest other fleeing members of the gang for possible prosecution.

ARREST OF SUSPECT FOR POSSESSION OF ILLICIT DRUGS AND RECOVERY OF 36 BOTTLES OF “LAUGHING GAS” (NITROUS OXIDE)

In furtherance of the Delta State Police Command’s sustained intelligence-led efforts to curb the circulation of illicit substances, operatives of the Raiders Unit, acting on credible intelligence, recorded a significant breakthrough on 08 January 2026, at about 1330 hours. The operation, coordinated under the supervision of SP Akanya Agbogha, Commander of the Raiders Unit, led to the arrest of one Obi Onuigbi Ndubuoso (male, 43 years). A professional search conducted on the suspect resulted in the recovery of thirty-six (36) bottles of illicit drugs, popularly known as LAUGHING GAS. The suspect and exhibits are currently in police custody, while an investigation is ongoing to trace possible sources and distribution channels.

ARREST OF NOTORIOUS ARMED ROBBERS SPECIALISING IN MOTORCYCLE SNATCHING AND RECOVERY OF OFFENSIVE WEAPONS:

In continuation of proactive and intelligence-driven operations, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Agbor Division, CSP Michael Obekpa, led a team of operatives following a discreet investigation into a reported case of armed robbery on 24 December 2025. Acting on credible intelligence, the operation culminated on 4th January 2026 at about 2245 hours with the arrest of two (2) notorious armed robbers who specialised in snatching motorcycles from unsuspecting members of the public within Agbor and its environs. The suspects, Owakwe Chuks (male, 37 years) and Bright Moses (male, 32 years), were arrested during the targeted operation. Exhibits recovered from the suspects include one hammer used in inflicting injuries on victims, one brown face mask, one short knife, one handset, and one face cap.

ARREST OF MURDER SUSPECT AND RECOVERY OF WEAPON AT OGWASHI-UKU

In another development, on 08 January 2025, at about 0731 hours, a report was received at Ogwashiku Division that at about 0320 hours of the same date, at Poly Road, by Adaigbo Filling Station, a 20-year-old male was stabbed to death while asleep. Upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ogwashi-Uku Division, CSP Israel Okoyomon, promptly mobilised detectives to the scene. Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was allegedly stabbed by his brother, Aliyu Haman (male, 20 years). The suspect was arrested, and the weapon used in committing the crime was recovered. The corpse was evacuated and deposited at Odua Mortuary, Ogwashi-uku, for autopsy. Suspect is in custody and investigation is ongoing.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, has reaffirmed that the protection of lives and property remains his top priority, assuring residents that the Command will pursue criminals decisively through intelligence-led operations and visible policing.
