Ladies and gentlemen of the press, I welcome you to this briefing, where I will be briefing you on the command scorecard so far. The command under my leadership has continued to make Delta State hot for criminals through continuous proactive and intelligence-driven Policing. The command recorded immense success in the fight against violent crime and criminality, which has given rise to the massive recovery of sophisticated firearms, large quantities of hard drugs and illicit substances, arrest of kidnappers, armed robbers, and drug peddlers.
Some of our achievements include:
A. KIDNAPPING/ARREST OF KIDNAPPERS:

1. THE ARREST OF FIVE SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS/ RECOVERY OF ONE AK-47 RIFLE AND THIRTY-SIX (36) ROUNDS OF 7.62MM LIVE AMMUNITION: On 24 April 2026 at about 1830hrs, operatives of the command’s tactical team based in Ughelli, acting on credible intelligence arrested one Ahmadu Usman (m), 22, at Ekuigbo area of Ughelli, he is a member of kidnapping syndicate terrorising commuters along Ughelli–Warri Road. Further interrogation led to the arrest of Haruna Abdullahi (m), 37, at Trailer Park along Warri–Sapele Road, one AK-47 rifle loaded with thirty-six (36) rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition was recovered from them. Suspects are in custody and investigation is ongoing.

The suspect on sighting attacked them, leading to a gun duel. The operatives responded professionally, resulting in the rescue of two female victims, while three members of the kidnapping syndicate were fatally wounded. Recovered from the scene were one AK-47 rifle, nineteen (19) rounds of AK-47 ammunition, and Four Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira (#4,500,000) suspected to be part of the ransom collected from victims. The injured suspects were taken to the hospital but were confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. The ransom money handed over to the victim. Investigation is ongoing.
3. DELTA STATE POLICE COMMAND BURSTS KIDNAP SYNDICATE, RESCUE THREE VICTIMS, AND RECOVER ONE AK-47 RIFLE: The Command in a sustained fight against violent crime, successfully rescued three kidnapped victims, arrested a suspected kidnapper, and recovered an AK-47 rifle following a fierce gun battle in Issele-Uku. Sequel to a kidnapping report received at the Issele-Uku Division on 16th March 2026, operatives in collaboration with the military, local vigilante groups, and hunters, swiftly mobilised and launched a coordinated operation, combing identified hideouts within the surrounding bushes. During the encounter, one of the suspects was fatally wounded, while the three victims were rescued unharmed and have since reunited with their families. The operation led the recovery of one AK-47 Rifle.

The two suspects were arrested during stop and search in Imo State, in possession of stolen items from their victims in Delta State. Suspects are in custody, manhunt for other members of the gang is ongoing

C. GENDER VIOLENCE CRIME

1. ARREST OF HUMAN/ORGAN TRAFFICKERS: On 3rd of April 2026, at about 1730 hours, a report was received from a woman (name withheld) from Ekpan community Uvwie that her daughter (name withheld) aged 19yrs who stays with her father at Okpaka, visited her in Ekpan. She noticed that the girl was looking sick, which made her to ask questions. The 19year old girl stated that in the month of September 2025, she and two of her friends met one Blessing Mongo ‘f’ aged 47yrs who introduced them to one Esther ‘f’ aged 32yrs who also introduced them to another lady named Onome ‘f’ aged 36yrs for the purpose of trafficking to Ivory coast for prostitution. The victim stated that days after her arrival at Ivorycoast, she was injected with unknown substance, and rushed to the hospital, by the time she woke up, she noticed that her tommy was bandaged. That suspect brought her back to Nigeria and abandoned her in Lagos. She found her way back to Delta State. Upon receipt of this complaint, the command arrested two suspects namely Blessing Mongo ‘f’ aged 47yrs and Esther meeting aged ‘f’ 32yrs. After preliminary investigation, the case was immediately transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation. During the course of investigation, medical examination was carried out and it was discovered that the traffickers removed her womb without her consent before returning her back to Nigeria. The two key suspects are presently in custody.

D. DRUG/SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND ARREST OF SUSPECTS

1. DELTA STATE COMMAND INTERCEPT HARD DRUGS SUSPECTED TO BE COCAINE CONCEALED INSIDE ENERGY SAVING BULBS: On 13 April 2026 at about 0845hrs, Command’s Safer Highway Patrol (SHP) stationed along the Onicha-Ugbo/Ewohimi road intercepted a commercial Sienna bus conveying passengers en route to Abuja. The vehicle, driven by one Osuke Stephen, male, aged 47 years, was subjected to a routine search. During the search, illicit substances suspected to be hard drug carefully concealed inside electric energy bulbs were recovered. Other exhibits recovered include Four Hundred and Ninety (490) grams of substance suspected to be cocaine, four (4) grams of weeds suspected to be loud and suspected cannabis. Preliminary investigation revealed that the substances were being transported to Abuja to be delivered to drug dealers. Effort to arrest other suspects linked to the offense is ongoing.

E. PROSECUTION OF CASES: From the month of January 2026 to date, the command has charged four hundred and fifty-five (455) cases to court, and successfully prosecuted two hundred and five (205) cases, while two hundred and fifty (250) cases are currently undergoing trial in various courts across the twenty five local government areas in the state. This should serve as a deterrent to criminal elements that the the command under my leadership will leave no stone unturned in the fight against crime and criminality.

Conclusion
In conclusion,
1. I want to thank the, Inspector General of Police, Delta State Government, the press, security agencies, traditional rulers civil society organizations, vigilantes/security volunteers, members of the public for the support received so far.

2. I also wish to reaffirm the command unwavering commitment to discipline, professionalism, and accountability. Discipline is not optional; it is the foundation upon which effective policing and public trust are built. The comand will continue to take firm action against any officer whose conduct falls short of the standards expected of our noble profession.

3. The command is equally concerned about the growing prevalence of drug abuse within our communities. Let me be clear. This command will continue to pursue, disrupt, and dismantle drug networks wherever they exist. We will sustain intelligence-led operations, strengthen collaboration with relevant agencies, and ensure that those involved in the distribution and abuse of illicit substances are brought to justice.

4. Also the activities of land grabbers in the state has caught our attention, the command wish to state clearly that the Police will not get involved in land dispute or any civil matters, however, it is the constitutional responsibility of the Nigeria Police force to ensure protection of Life and property, maintenance of law and order amongst other duties, hence the command will not tolerate any individual, or group that employed violence in their activities. The command therefore advised aggrieved parties to seek civil redress in court and not resort to self-help.
I want to thank all stakeholders for their support so far and call on all residents of Delta State to continue to partner with the command, provide credible information, as we jointly safeguard our communities and build a safer, more secure environment for all.
