The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), RS 2.1 Lagos Sector Command, has further demonstrated its unwavering commitment to road safety by intensifying its Total War on Overloading enforcement operations.
The special intervention, coordinated by the Deputy Corps Commander Operations, DCC Lucas Dare Oguntade, was strategically focused on curbing the life-threatening menace of overloading within and beyond the Lagos metropolis. Since commencement, the exercise has continued to receive wide commendation from stakeholders, commuters, and the general public—particularly for its decisive action against violators who dangerously combined human passengers with goods.
To ensure seamless enforcement, the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, deployed personnel to provide robust security support throughout the operation.
In keeping with FRSC’s mandate, all vehicles apprehended for overloading were compelled to offload excess passengers and goods to the prescribed safety levels before payment of fines was permitted.
ANALYSIS OF ARRESTS MADE:
• Overloading (OVL): 10
• Projected Load (PLE): 02
• Light Sign Violation (LSV): 01
• Route Violation (RTC): 01
• Dangerous Driving (DGD): 01
This targeted intervention forms part of FRSC’s broader strategy to reduce crashes, safeguard lives, and promote a culture of compliance among motorists in and out of Lagos State.
The Lagos Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde G. Hamzat, reiterated that overloading in any form will no longer be tolerated, stressing that the practice puts lives at risk and undermines national road safety efforts. He urged members of the public to continue supporting the campaign by reporting violators and embracing road safety as a shared responsibility
