In a world often overshadowed by conflict, displacement, and despair, a powerful message is echoing across communities: Hope Can Rise! This year’s World Refugees Day, marked globally on June 20th, is not merely a date on the calendar — it is a humanitarian call to action.
With millions forcibly displaced due to conflict, persecution, and disasters, the African Refugees Foundation is set to host a triad of transformative events designed to uplift, heal, and empower some of the most vulnerable in our midst.
Three Pillars of Impact
- Food Outreach
For many refugees and displaced persons, this may be their only meal of the day. Volunteers and partners will distribute nutritious meals to help ease the burden of hunger and remind recipients they are not forgotten.
- Free Medical Outreach
Access to healthcare remains a dream for countless displaced individuals. This initiative offers them a chance at wellness, healing, and a future free from pain — one medical kit, one diagnosis, one healing touch at a time.
- Empowerment Seminar
Under the theme “Solidarity with Refugees”, in line with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Policy for 2025, this seminar will provide tools, knowledge, and inspiration to help refugees begin rebuilding their lives.
In addition to these events, there will be:
Mental Health Counseling & Awareness Sessions
Basic Skills Training Initiatives
—all geared towards holistic recovery and long-term reintegration.
A Personal Appeal to the Public
“Refugees, displaced and indigent people don’t fall from the skies… they are products of man’s inhumanity to man,” a spokesperson for the Foundation stated. “But behind every food parcel, every bandage, and every word of encouragement is someone like YOU.”
The Foundation is appealing for donations and volunteers—not for applause, not for publicity, but for impact. “We do this not for show, but for souls; not for numbers, but for names,” the statement added.
