In his capacity as Co-chairman, National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria(NCTRN), the Ooni of Ife & Natural Father of the Oduduwa race worldwide, Arole Oduduwa Olofin Adimula, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi,CFR, Ojaja II on Thursday led a powerful delegation of the NCTRN to the Joint Session of the National Assembly which was addressed by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR held inside the Green Chamber of the National Assembly, Abuja earlier today, where Mr President announced the recipients of the various categories of the national honours; GCON, CON, CFR, & OON.
Below listed are the Nigerian prominent traditional rulers drawn from all the geopolitical zones:
- HRH, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammad Abali Ibn Idris,CFR, North East Coordinator & Chairman, Yobe State Council of Traditional Rulers
- HRM, Igwe Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu, Ogadagidi I of Eden Ani Ogwugwu Kingdom, Chairman, Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers
- HRH, Alhaji Muhammad Isha Muhammad, Emir of Jama’a, Vice Chairman, Kaduna State Council of Traditional Rulers
- HRM, Oba Adekunle Adeagbo, Oore of Otun Ekiti, Paramount Ruler of Mobaland, Ekiti state, Coordinator of South West NCTRN
- HRM John Elaigwu Odogbo, the Och’ Idoma and Vice Chairman, Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers
- HRH, King (Amb) Dr Appolus Chu, OFR, Oneh-Eh Nchia , Egbere Emere Okori I, Eleme Kingdom, Rivers state
Among the National Honours recipients are Professor Wole Soyinka – GCON, Professor Bolaji Akinyemi – GCON, Bayo Onanuga – CON, Femi Fanala SAN – CON, Dare Babarinsa – OON, Dapo Olorunyomi – OON, Seye Kehide – OON and a host of others while Ken Saro Wows, Beko – Ransome Kuti, Dr Frederick Faseun and Comrade Frank Kokori and late Chief Ayo Fasanmi were given posthumous honours of CON & CFR.
