Lagos NSCDC Sensitizes Youths Against Violence, Vandalism, Other Social Menace

Keshinro shares possible solutions towards youth integration in the fight against social disorder, at the summit organized, by the Coalition of Nigerian Youths on Security and Safety Affairs.

The State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Lagos State Command, Mr Adedotun Keshinro ably represented, by the Deputy Commandant of Corps Dapo Fasae, in charge of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Department delivered, the Keynote Address at the summit organized, by the Coalition of Nigerian Youths On Security and Safety Affairs tagged, Lagos State Youths’ Multi stakeholders Summit in Crime Reduction and Prevention. The event was organized, in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Lagos State Command, other Federal and State security services, Youths’ groups, voluntary organizations, non – governmental organizations, media organizations and relevant stakeholders in the state.

The Lagos State Commandant mentioned, some very notable solutions in his keynote address, delivered, at the summit, on how the youths can be integrated, in the fight against vandalism of critical national assets and infrastructure, violence, extremism and abuse of drugs in Lagos State. Some of the solutions include; to equip the young people with knowledge and skills in order for them to be able to resist harmful influences and make informed choices. This includes; workshops, training programs, and campaigns that focus on crime prevention, conflict resolution, and substance abuse prevention.

Other solutions proffered, but not limited to these are community engagement, mentorship and leadership, economic empowerment and Support as well as ensuring effective social welfare system that can clearly identify, capture the youths and meaningfully, assist the vulnerable in our society.

Other relevant professional individuals were drawn from a number of organizations and institutions, such as; Dr ( Barr.,) Tony Ofoyetan, Director General, International Institute of Professional Security, Dr Wale Amusa, Registrar, Institute of Criminology and Strategic Studies, Deputy Superintendent of Corps Oluwaseun Abolurin, Civil Defence, Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Amb. Bello Oluwashina opeyemi, Ondo state, Oba (Dr) Adewunmi Adeniji Odutala, Onibudo of Aiyetoro-budo and more, also impacted the youths and entire audience with resourcefulness during a panel session, which immediately, followed, the lectures delivered, by the representative of the State Commander, NDLEA and other guest lecturers at the event.

The highly interactive panel session, moderated, by Oluwafemi Olatunji, Chief Executive Officer, Target Search Global Nigeria/ United Kingdom also set the tone for a completely, robust interactive session aimed at proffering lasting solutions to the security problems and social menaces now, evident and very present and daring in our society .

The event also captured relevant solutions on crime reduction and prevention from the speeches given by Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende, Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, ably represented, Dr Rotimi George Taylor, Chairman of the summit, Dr Adebamiji Olaniyi, National Patron CONYSSA, Amb., Ademario Emmanuel, Director General CONYSSA, Amb., Akanni Michael, State Coordinator CONYSSA, Oluwafemi Olatunji, Chief Executive Officer, Target Search Global Nigeria/ United Kingdom at the event, which took place on Thursday, 18th July, 2024, at the Ikeja Youth Center.

The presentation of awards, by Amb., Ademario Emmanuel, Director General CONYSSA, to deserving members of the society was among the highpoints of the summit. The State Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Mr Adedotun Keshinro was also presented an award for his unflinching effort in the fight against vandalism and all other social menaces that bedevil our society amidst others .
