

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Lagos State Command, Area D Command comprising; Otto – Awori, Ojo, Iba, Olohunda and Badagry Divisions in pursuance of the Corps’ vision on ensuring effective protection of critical national assets and infrastructure which are very important to the socio – economic lifewire of the people and our dear country met with stakeholders today, Wednesday , 21st January , 2026 in Badagry .
The protection of these Critical National Assets and Infrastructure ( CNAI ) include but not limited to critical sectors such as ; oil and gas, transportation, power and energy, telecommunications, education, health et ce tera remain one of the core statutory mandates of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ).
In pursuance of the aforementioned mandate of the NSCDC, the Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD., mni, OFR remains committed in deploying both operational and whole of the people approach in combatting the issues of vandalism, illegal dredging, illegal mining and sabotage of the nation’s economic resources .
The State Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command Mr Adedotun Keshinro affirmed that the community engagement held today, Wednesday by the Area D Command was very important to obtain feedback from stakeholders on issues of vandalism of assets and infrastructure in Lagos State . This is because of its socio – economic importance and relevance to the state .
According to the Lagos State Commandant, who was ably represented by the Head of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Department, Deputy Commandant of Corps Kolawole Agbetiloye, “community engagements with stakeholders such as this aim to bring the campaigns against vandalism, illegal dredging, illegal mining activities, illegal scrap dealings amongst others close the people at the grassroots.
The Head of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Department, Deputy Commandant of Corps Kolawole Agbetiloye charged the scrap dealers association of Badagry West led by its Chairman , Mr Ibrahim Dogo to regulate the activities of its members and ensure compliance in a bid ensure effective protection of these critical assets and infrastructure . He advised that the association should ensure that erring members are dealt with seriously and deregistered to avoid soiling their image.
The Chairman, Badagry West Local Council Development Area, Honourable Rauf Ibrahim Yemaren, who was ably represented at the event also made it known that it was important for community stakeholders to support security agencies in assisting them to deliver their mandates . He commended the NSCDC particularly for organizing all stakeholders together to discuss the very core of our socio – economic lifewire in the Area.
The Agoloto of Badagry, Dr Hundogan, who also spoke on behalf of traditional rulers at the event gave his nod to the initiative and perceived it as a right step in the right direction . He also also made it clear that the traditional institutions in Badagry and its environs do not harbour criminals in their domain.
The Commander 653, Nigerian Air Force Station, Group Captain Humphrey Magudu also commended the NSCDC and the Lagos State Commandant for putting up such a widely commendable grassroot initiative that will continue to cement cordial relationship amongst security agencies and all relevant bodies in their Area of Responsibility and across Lagos State . He called for more of these kinds of fora from the Corps to find a lasting solution to vandalism in the state .
The Comptroller of Customs , Seme Border Command, Comptroller Wale Adenuga also sought the Corps to continue in this direction of promoting more sensitization and enlightenment programmes that will further aid adequate security and protection of assets and infrastructure in the state . He further recognized the fact that all security agencies in Badagry work in unity of purpose and direction to end the activities of unscrupulous elements in the state.
The representative of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Comrade Aladeotan David also affirmed the youths’ commitment towards supporting the Corps in achieving its mandate of adequate protection of CNAI in the state. He assures the Corps that he will take the message back home to his constituents. He changed the Corps to involve then more in activities and programmes relating to their mandates and not reduce the youths to a stated of neglect and abandonment because they play a very significant role towards ensuring the security , peace and progress of the communities .
The Chairman , Scrap Dealer Association of Badagry, Mr Ibrahim Dogo also called on all stakeholders to join the Corps in fighting the menace of vandalism . He said that they will continue to collaborate with the Corps and relevant agencies to punish erring members and eject them out of their system .
The Area Commander, Area D Command, Assistant Commandant of Corps Salisu Daura covering Ojo, Otto – Awori, Olohunda, Iba and Badagry Divisions was present with the Divisional Officers and their officers and men at the stakeholders meeting today and they took time to respond to the bugging questions raised by participants.
The Divisional Officer of Badagry Division, Chief Superintendent of Corps Ekunola Gbenga also assured the participants of effective communication channels on any matter as regards the Corps ‘ areas of jurisdiction in the Divisions under the Area D Command as phone contacts to be reached was rolled out for the general public .
The event drew goodwill messages from the representatives of the Chairman of Badagry West LCDA, The Agoloto of Badagry , Baale, Nigeria Police Force, The Nigerian Air Force , Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, National Animal and Quarantine Service, Christian Association of Nigeria,, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Neighbourhood Corps , National Youth Council of Nigeria , Community Development Associations and Committees, Iya loja, et ce tera.
