ADP Governorship Candidate Says Osun Election Reaffirms the Power of the People Beyond Money and Influence

The Governorship Candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Oyo State, Hon. Kunle Olatunji KTJ, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the recently concluded governorship election, describing the outcome as a significant morale booster for the electorate and a reaffirmation of the power of the people in a democracy especially for many contestants considered as “Underdogs”.

Olatunji, in a congratulatory statement, said the outcome of the election had further validated his longstanding conviction that the power of the electorate transcends the generally assumed influence of money, political structures and the might of those in positions of authority.

According to him, the development should serve as a wake-up call to politicians and other critical stakeholders that the electorate ultimately possesses the constitutional power to determine who governs them through their votes.

He noted that the outcome of the Osun State Governorship Election, particularly the emergence of Governor Adeleke despite what he described as intense political competition, substantial campaign resources and the perceived strength of the ruling establishment, had demonstrated that elections could still produce outcomes determined by the will of the people.

“The Osun election is a morale booster for many emerging political leaders and genuine democrats who believe that strong connection with the electorate, fulfilment of electoral promises, empathy, commitment to quality leadership, strategic positioning and credible engagement with the people remain critical to electoral success.

“It is becoming increasingly evident that Nigerian voters are beginning to appreciate the power of their votes and the importance of participating actively in the democratic process.”

Olatunji also commended the improved voter participation and the resilience, courage and determination demonstrated by the electorate during the election, saying the development reinforces the principle that every vote must count in determining electoral outcomes.

He congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke, the Accord Party, the people of Osun State and Nigerians at large on what he described as another important milestone in the nation’s democratic journey.

The ADP candidate further stated that the Osun election had strengthened his confidence in the possibility of unexpected electoral outcomes in the 2027 general elections.

He said: “This election is a clear confirmation of my sustained position that divine grace, strategic planning, empathy, commitment to the people and purposeful leadership will remain decisive factors in determining electoral success in 2027.

“I have no doubt that several aspirants and candidates presently regarded as underdogs will spring significant surprises at the polls, to the consternation of many established political names and structures.

“The message from Osun is clear: the people have the power, and when they collectively decide, no amount of money, influence or political might can permanently suppress their will.”

Olatunji therefore urged political leaders and aspirants across the country to reconnect genuinely with the electorate, focus on issues affecting the people and approach the 2027 elections with humility, accountability and a renewed commitment to democratic values.
