The Nigerian military has just confirmed that a new terrorist group, ‘Lukarawas’ has emerged in the North-western part of the country.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Edward Buba disclosed this while briefing newsmen on military operations on Thursday in Abuja.
Buba stated that the new terror group originated in the Republic of Niger after the recent coup, which disrupted military cooperation between Nigeria and Niger.
He explained that the terrorists began infiltrating northern areas of Sokoto and Kebbi States from the Niger Republic and Mali, particularly following the coup in Niger.
The emergence of this new terrorist group is a direct fulfilment of Primate Elijah Ayodele which he shared some months ago. He had always said since 2022 that he foresees the emergence of a new terrorist group and when he saw a sign of their emergence, he alerted the Nigerian military but he was ignored.
It would be recalled that in March when some school students were kidnapped in the northern part of the country, Primate Ayodele told the military that a new terrorist syndicate was behind the kidnap and that they would soon be named. He revealed that it wasn’t Boko Haram but a new group that was yet to be named.
“It is no longer Boko Haram or any existing group that is behind these kidnappings, it is a new group and they will soon name it. It’s a new terrorism syndicate that must be defeated. We should commit our military in prayers to defeat terrorism; we must not allow terrorists to ruin this government.”
He stated that one of the activities the terrorist group would engage in is stopping students from going to school and that if the government doesn’t work to tackle them, more children will be kidnapped.
He called on President Tinubu to work with security operatives to defeat this new terrorism syndicate.
‘’These terrorists want to scare people from going to school, they want to destroy the future of this country but Tinubu shouldn’t agree. He should cooperate with the security outfits to defeat terrorism.
‘’If the government doesn’t act on this, they are ready to move to other states. The government must wake up and curb this now if not, school children will be kidnapped in other states apart from the north.’’
Meanwhile in January, Primate Ayodele specifically warned President Tinubu to take security seriously as he foresees the emergence of a new terrorist group.
‘’The president needs to take insecurity and economic hardship very seriously. Top personalities will still be kidnapped and I foresee a new syndicate of bandits, terrorists and kidnappers coming up.’’
No doubt, the emergence of Lukarawas has confirmed the prophecy of Primate Ayodele.
