Recall that the Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR has made tremendous and giant efforts in the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure of our dear nation, Nigeria, with unprecedented results since his emergence as the third ( 3rd ) substantive CG of the Corps.
The organizers of the African Custodian Awards, led by Mr Tony Okpe, Editor – In – Chief / Chief Executive Officer of the African Custodian Magazine in an ecstatic award ceremony yesterday, Saturday, 23rd November, 2024, celebrated, the electrifying operational, resourceful and administrative performances of Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR as the African Security Icon for the year 2024 at its eleventh ( 11th ) edition, held, at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( LCCI ), Olowopopo, Alahusa, Ikeja, Lagos.
The State Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Mr Adedotun Keshinro represented the CG and received , the award, which was presented, to him by Air Vice Marshal Femi Ogunsina, the representative of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, who was also honoured at the ceremonious event.
Mr Tony Okpe in his welcome address enumerated, how the CG of NSCDC has created and used home grown security solutions, intellectual resourcefulness, kinetic and non – kinetic approaches to solving the issues of economic sabotage across the length and breath of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, there helping to increase the Gross Domestic Product ( GDP ) of the nation. He highlighted the fact that the CG has taken regular stakeholders’ engagement with the Corps’ workforce more seriously , than ever as well as his leadership skills of repositioning, rebuilding the image of the NSCDC, to meet world standards are amongst many reasons for his selection for the most prestigious award for the year 2024.
The Commander, Mining Marshall of the NSCDC , Assistant Commandant of Corps Attah Onoja was also present to receive an award for excellence in protecting the solid minerals of our dear nation against attacks and invasions coupled, with the fact that operate in dangerous zones and terrains.
The Lagos State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro appreciated the organizers of the African Custodian Awards for deeming the CG worthy of the biggest award of the day in their 11th edition in a roll. He further said that the Corps under the leadership of the CG will continue to do its best and remain resilient in safeguarding all critical national assets and infrastructure of our dear country, Nigeria, no matter the challenges faced.
