The Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Noimot Salako Oyedele hosted the annual Family Ramadan Lecture on Sunday, March 2, 2025, in Ota, Ogun State.
The event gathered religious leaders, scholars, and community members, including the Olota of Ota, HRM Oba Abdulkabir Obalanlege, Chief Imams, Islamic clerics, and Alasalatus groups.
During the lecture, the Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo Ota Local Government, Com. Lawal Adewale Wasiu, urged Muslims and Nigerians to embody the principles of fairness, justice, and equity, emphasizing that these are the core teachings of Islam.
In a brief media interview, Com. Wasiu reinforced the message of the guest speaker, Mallam Tajudeen Adewunmi from Ilaro, Yewa. The speaker highlighted the ethical values of a good Muslim and the importance of upholding them during Ramadan and beyond.
The Chairman also commended the Ogun State Government, led by Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, and the Deputy Governor for their humanitarian efforts. Thousands of Ramadan relief packages were distributed to the underprivileged, ensuring support for the less fortunate during this sacred period.

Mrs. Ganiyat Adunni Shaffi, wife of the Grand Chief Imam of Sango-Ota, described Ramadan as a time of spiritual reflection and reconciliation with Allah. She urged Muslims to strengthen their faith and uphold Islam’s core value of love. She also acknowledged the Nigerian government’s role in making essential goods more accessible during Ramadan.
Furthermore, Alhaja Adunni Shaffi called on the wealthy and elite to assist the needy, emphasizing that charity and generosity are key pillars of Islam. She advised the youth to embrace contentment, as trust in Almighty Allah brings great rewards.
In his closing remarks, Com. Wasiu reiterated the importance of unity and kindness beyond Ramadan, urging Nigerians to support one another regardless of ethnic or religious differences.
