The State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Lagos State Command, Mr Adedotun Keshinro in his bid to further deepen the conversations on the Safe School Project in the state in line with the vision of the Commandant General of the Corps, CG Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD., mni, OFR and the directive of the Federal Government, visited the Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Basic and Secondary school Education, Mr Tolani Jamiu Ali – Balogun in his office.
The visit of the Lagos State Commandant to the aforementioned Commissioner’s office was amongst other things also aimed at collectively interacting with the ministry on workable methods that can be proactively deployed to ensure the safety and security of our schools, school children and their teachers against sudden attacks and other vices capable of bedeviling the sector in the state.
The Lagos State Commandant re – iterated the need to engage a multi – stakeholders approach in ensuring the successful implementation of the Safe School Project in the state as all hands is required to be on deck.
The Honourable Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Tolani Jamiu Ali – Balogun however, harped on the robust gathering of local intelligence, community involvement and intesification on advocacy as ways forward in the bid to providing adequate security and safety for the sector in our dear state.
The Honourable Commissioner further agreed with the Corps on the need to engage multi stakeholders approach in getting the work done as quick as possible in the state. He noted also that the national steering committee set up for this purpose has already commenced work with representatives of all relevant security agencies and members of the ministry already officially inaugurated.
