The 2024 AREF (African Refugees Empowerment Foundation) Founder’s Day event successfully concluded with participants ; Chief Mrs Opral Benson , Mr Olaniyi Ayeni , Mr Bayo Adesoye,, Mr Wole Adediran ( AREF projects Executive) , others dignitaries discussing critical strategies to drive social and economic change.
Among the top priorities was the need for moral and advocacy efforts to address societal challenges, such as improving parenting capacities and fostering attitudinal shifts for a better future.
A major focus was placed on accurate data collection to aid planning, progress, and development. Participants also emphasized the importance of embracing agricultural practices for sustainable living, with Mr. Bayo Adesoye tasked with presenting an agricultural plan template for further discussion.
The event highlighted the need to engage policymakers capable of crafting impactful policies to support vulnerable populations. Collaboration with skills acquisition centers and partnerships with foundations, including TY Danjuma Foundation and MTN Foundation, were identified as essential for financial backing to sustain empowerment initiatives.

Additionally, the forum called for continuous dialogue on peace and security and suggested revising the name of AREF to attract broader support. The Food Outreach Initiative was also recognized as a vital program to address immediate needs within the community.
The resolutions reflect a collective commitment to fostering change and ensuring better living conditions for all.
