EDO GUBERNATORIAL CONTEST 2024: WHO IS SCARED OF BLESSING AGBOMHERE

The political clouds are presently gathering over the ever stormy political firmament of Edo State. It is once again a battle of the Titans as political juggernauts and wannabes are jostling to position themselves as the next Landlord of the coveted Osadebe House, the seat of governance in the State that prides itself as The Heartbeat Of The Nation.

Given the luck luster performance of the outgoing PDP led Godwin Obaseki administration, the state of the shredded PDP umbrella and the abysmal track record of political somersaults of it leading candidates. Also, the inglorious penchant of betrayal by the current frontrunners of the PDP ticket in the state is in focus too.

Consequently, is not surprising that all eyes are on the APC and the contest for its gubernatorial ticket is not going to be a tea party.
Among the political heavyweight who have thrown their hats into the ring for the APC ticket is the enigmatic, pragmatic and visionary Blessing Agbomhere popularly known as AWO the current Organising Secretary of the APC South-South Zone.

This youthful political gladiator is no stranger to the vagaries of political contests in Edo State.

In fact, Blessing Agbomhere has been a permanent fixture and a recurring decimal in the contest for leadership in Edo State.
Well known for his people oriented vision for developmental governance of Edo State for the good of her people, Agbomhere has been as constant as the Eastern Star in the APC right from its inception in Edo State.

Haven contested against the incumbent Obaseki for the APC ticket back in 2016 with an impressive showing,, AWO has in the last almost a decade built a formidable political structure and massive following in his home base Edo North, Edo State and the South-South in general.

This is such that his presence in Edo State from his base in Abuja has for long time being sending shivers down the back of the Obaseki administration for years. It even got to a point that fingers were once pointed at the Deputy Governor , Philip Shaibu for an attack by thugs on Blessing Agbomhere and his bosom friend Moses Siasia at the Benin Airport.

With this formidable background, political watchers in the State are not surprised that Agbomhere’s formidable posture, wide acceptance, political savvy and sagacity is currently sending shivers down the spine of opponents and their supporters in the Edo APC in the run off to the State APC Party Primaries.
Typical of political mediocre who bank on mudslinging and image bashing to foster their stillbirth political aspirations, some unseen hands have already started their never to succeed mischiefs.

The first salvo of the many to be expected misleading information by these shadowy politicians at Agbomhere was a story of Agbomhere being sponsored by Obaseki to scuttle the chances of the APC in the forthcoming elections. To most rational minds, this futile attempt at calumny is laughable and juvenile.
How is it that any rational mind can concoct such fiction simply because Agbomhere who has never hidden the fact that he was going to run for the governor of Edo State long before now transilate into a conspiracy theory?
Agbomhre’s loyalty to the APC can never be cast in doubt given his antecedents, wide acceptance and undeniable contributions to the party at all levels.

Consequently, at this point, it is pertinent and logical to ask who is so scared of Agbomhere to sponsor this futile campaign of calumny?
