Recently, The Hibiscus Female News Publishers were on a courtesy visit to Hon. David Olusegun Odumbaku The Executive Chairman of Ojodu Lcda, Lagos; in his warn reception , sit back and enjoy ‘ The Chat’
Can we meet you Mr Chairman sir?
Chairman —- Yes! My names are Hon. Olusegun David Odumbaku {DOS} l am the Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA.
Sir, you have done a lot of work in Ojodu LCDA including Training, Health, Palliatives to help in this time of hardship. Is there something else you think the Federal Government needs to do because is like the hardship is now a daily thing?
Chairman — What ever we do in the Local Governments is coming from the Federal Government, they are doing their best to assist the states and local governments .
The federal government cannot come down to assist rather can only assist by policies and programmes especially in terms of finance as well to allow us do more, and in Lagos State the State Governor and Local Government Chairman’s are utilizing whatever they gets from the Federal Government unlike other States, we are really working in Lagos State.
Weeks ago we got over 5000 food items in different packages, 25kg rice, beans, garri and all this was shared accordingly and we also made sure it gets to the less privileges.
What we are going through in country is a global issue so we have a lot of work to do though the policies and programmes from the federal government that has done a lot.
During the COVID time it didn’t just happened something led to it and it caused a lot in so many county’s like inflation, supply change. So back home we won’t stop doing our best to the widows, orphans, less privileges, single mothers especially because they are doing the job of two people. We appreciate what both the Federal and state government are doing.
Chairman, what step have you taking concerning the issue of Cholera?
Chairman — Immediately the news came up l took it up in the area of sanitization: in the markets, schools, sanitization of public , recreation places and the few cases that we had was being treated. The health officials did their work and made sure it was sorted out.
Chairman, health wise, you have done a lot to the residents of Ojodu Lcda regarding surgery, treatments of ailments and other diseases, how do you get the doctors?
Chairman– Thank you! You see, most hospitals we use is just one off, maybe a day or two days check up. But l said ‘NO’ because after spending so much money at the end of the day we will not reach to people that we want instead let’s put our money where we can achieve what we want. So, we bring in the doctors to do the work, tuesday for screening, wednesday for operation.
What we do are minor operations though some people call it major but the doctors said it’s minor { laughs} we do fibroid, hyena, prostrate, l thank God for the quality of doctors that we had. They are professionals in what they do, in some hospitals it will cost so much but they are doing it as a CSR which we appreciate them for taking their time to come around and they are willing to assist always.
Mr Chairman, You ‘ve done marvellously well at this first tenure; what do we look forward to in your second term?
Chairman — The reward of hard work is more work according to the fromer governor of Lagos state, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola; We might think there is time but there is no time because there are more work to do, l can confess to you that there are lot for me to do. So no time to relax, in the second tenure by God’s grace I look forward to where all the primary health centers in Ojodu LCDA will have alternative energy where there won’t be a hitch of health services to the people, though three PHC already had solar energy, as well as installing such in all our schools where pupils/ students will have access to the use of learning gadgets without any distruption, modern conveniences and conducive learning environment for the learners and the teachers we have to look out for solutions that will give us what we want and getting this facilities will be a great.
How did you come into Politics?
Chairman — Sincerely yours, I didn’t see it coming ! l never planned it. but now that l am here l will never take it for granted, l see it as being divine. What kept it on is having the privileged to touch lives, to me is priceless! Seeing people with smiling faces gives me joy . Here in Ojodu LCDA best teachers, workers receive annual give away prices in cash, consolation prices for others as motivation when people are comfortable and been taken care off, they won’t think of ‘ JAPA’ . It’s a servant ,master relationship !
Thank you Mr Chairman for your time !
Hon. Odumbaku — You are most welcome!
.
