Governor Olushola Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state has hailed Lagos residents loyalty to the ruling party of All Progressive Congress (APC) aftermath the victory at the just concluded Local government elections.

The press statement forwarded to Insight Global News by ministry of infomation Ć nd strategy reads:

I have received with joy and gratitude the news of the resounding victory of our candidates in the local government elections held across Lagos State on Saturday, July 12, 2025.

I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and to our party leaders, stakeholders, and loyal members on this overwhelming electoral success.

This outcome is a clear affirmation of the trust and confidence that the good people of Lagos have in the APC’s vision, leadership, and unwavering commitment to inclusive development at the grassroots.

Indeed, this victory belongs to the people of Lagos. It reflects your belief in our shared goals and your support for continuity, progress, and people-centered governance. I congratulate all our candidates, party members, and supporters across the 57 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas (LGAs and LCDAs) for their dedication and contributions to this well-deserved triumph.

To our newly elected Chairmen and Councillors, I offer my warmest congratulations. But more importantly, I offer you a reminder: this victory is not an end, but a means to an end—that end being selfless, responsive, and accountable service to the people. Your responsibility is to deliver good governance, uplift communities, and promote the welfare of every resident—regardless of political affiliation.

I urge you to be magnanimous in victory, reach across all divides, and embrace the spirit of humility, inclusiveness, and sportsmanship. Leadership is a sacred trust, and you have been chosen not just to lead your supporters, but to serve your entire community with equity, transparency, and compassion.

To our party members who contested in the primaries but were not successful, I salute your courage and commitment to the democratic process. I encourage you to remain steadfast, and to work harmoniously with the newly elected officials for the betterment of all. In every contest, there must be winners and others. But within the APC, we must always prioritize unity above personal ambition. That is the only way to sustain our legacy of service and success.

I call on all members of our great party to bury differences, embrace reconciliation, and support our elected representatives in delivering on the mandate of the people. We are stronger together, and the task of building a Greater Lagos demands our collective effort, wisdom, and collaboration.

I commend the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for conducting a peaceful and credible election, and I thank our security agencies for ensuring law and order throughout the electoral process.

Above all, I extend my sincere appreciation to the people of Lagos for exercising their civic responsibility peacefully and for reinforcing the ideals of democracy with dignity and maturity.

As the new local government administrations prepare to assume office, I reaffirm my unwavering commitment to working closely with them to drive meaningful development to all corners of our state. Together, we will ensure that no community is left behind on our journey toward a Greater Lagos.

God bless Lagos State.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu

Governor, Lagos State
