It’s double celebration for us in Yorubaland and in deed, the entire Nation, as we roll out drums and blow trumpets to felicitate our referred Monarch of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona (Ogbagba II) on his 90th Birthday anniversary as well as 64 years’ coronation anniversary.
Kabiyesi was crowned Awujale of Ijebuland at the age of 26 years and Today, his 64 years’ reign on the throne has brought tremendous development to Ijebuland.
He is a disciplinarian, very active, vibrant and ever formidable. Interest of Ijebuland, Yoruba race and Nigeria as a whole is paramount in his mind
He is forward looking and highly respected in Nigeria. No wonder, Mr President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, deemed it fit to bestow on him 2nd National Honour, Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), in appreciation of the laudable contributions of this Custodian of Yoruba Culture and Tradition, Royal father and core Progressive to the development of the Nation.
We are therefore raising our voice in concert to say many Happy Returns Kabiyesi. “Esin Oba, a je Oko pe o”.
Happy Birthday to the Defender of Masses, Human Rights’ Lawyer, Great Mobiliser and key Leader in the International Community of Civil Societies, Barrister Femi Falana, SAN, (a.k.a Authority). We wish him many Happy Returns as he turned 66 years yesterday.
Solemnly, this life is a sword that has 2 sides like a coin and this is the reason why we are mourning our 4 departed souls and commiserate with the breaved families, friends and Associates, starting from our dear friend, Brother and Partner in Progress for Decades, Rt (Hon) Mudashiru Obasa, the Honourable Speaker of Lagos State House Assembly, who lost his caring father, Pa Suleimon Atanda Obasa, a Businessman, passed on at the early hours of Today, Tuesday, at the age of 83.
Baba Obasa, a loving family man and community Leader in his lifetime, was a successful Businessman in the Oil and Gas as well as in the transportation sector, owning filling Stations.
He was also reputed for his success in farming, through which many Citizens have always been empowered.
A devoted Muslim, Pa Obasa dedicated his life to the service of Allah and mankind taking care of the needy and the less privileged.
He is survived by his wives, Children and Grandchildren among whom is the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
His remains would be interred at 4pm in the Agege (Old Abeokuta Motor Road) area of Lagos State, according to Islamic rites.
The news of death of our dear friend, Brother and committed Administrator, Mr Gboyega Soyannwo (GS), Lagos Deputy Chief of Staff, who died at the age of 55 was shocking, disappointing and totally demoralising but God Almighty knows it all.
The story of Alagba Adebayo Faleti @ 80 Birthday lecture that took place inside Conference Centre, University of Ibadan (UI), Ibadan, Oyo State, in 2011, won’t be complete without making reference to major input of his Relative and kinsman from Oyo Town, Prince Ajibola Afonja, former Chairman of first Bank Plc.
The late Prince Afonja invited us to his beautiful apartment in Ikoyi for a crucial meeting in recognition of our selfless service to humanity, which was at that time extended to Elderstatesman, our Mentor and a veteran Actor, Alagba Adebayo Faleti, OON, @ 80. The rest is history Today.
Our dear friend, Brother and Aide – De – Camp (ADC) to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Colonel Nurudeen Yusuf, a Prince from Kwara State, lost his Daddy, Oba Yusuf Omokanye Oyekanmi, Elemona of Ilemona, Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State
Though, they all left a big vacuum that would be extremely difficult to fill in the years to come but we must at the same time take solace in the fact that they lived lives full of accomplishments and impacts in their respective fields of specialisation.
May God give the families, friends, good People and Governments of Lagos, Oyo and Kwara States as well as Mr President the fortitude to bear these irrepearable losses of 4 eminent personalities and core Progressives of our time
