The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, (NAWOJ), Lagos Chapter, has launched its official website, a milestone achievement that underscores the association’s commitment to accessibility and innovation. The launch took place at the maiden Congress of the Association under the current executive committee, led by Comrade Jumoke Falayi Johnson, who assumed office with her executives over a month ago.

In her remarks, Jumoke Johnson described the achievement as a team effort, without which it would have been impossible to bring to fruition. She expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed content to the website, especially past Chairpersons of NAWOJ Lagos, lauding their support and great achievements in bringing the association to where it currently stands. She noted that their input were invaluable to its success.
“The website boasts easy landing pages, attractive features, and will serve as a window to the world, a channel for interaction, and a way to preserve the history of NAWOJ Lagos, while showcasing its activities and planned events” she said.
Former Chairperson of the association, Comrade Adeola Ekine, supported by Comrade Tosin Odusola and Comrade Queen Ugeh, performed the launch.
According to Dr. Adeola Ekine, immediate past Chairperson of the association “NAWOJ Lagos should have had an official website standing, but it had been impossible due to several reasons.
“This project has been a long time coming, and it’s long overdue. Comrade Johnson’s leadership has brought new momentum to the association, and this achievement is a testament to her team’s dedication and hard work” she added.
Reacting, other members commended Comrade Johnson and her team for the initiative, while acknowledging the impact the website will have on the association’s visibility and outreach.
This development marks a significant step forward for NAWOJ Lagos, enhancing its ability to promote professional excellence, advocate for gender equality in media organizations, and provide mentorship and capacity-building opportunities for young female journalists.
